Girls Aloud Profile
Name: Girls Aloud
Formed: 01/01/2002
After their huge success of their debut single “Sound Of The Underground”, it took several months for the band to record its debut album and followed their debut single with the No2 hit, “No Good Advice” in May 2003.
In November 2003, the girls released “Jump”, a cover of the Pointer Sisters song and went on to feature on the soundtrack to the 2003 film, Love Actually and entered the chart at No2. This single helped increase sales of the their album and after being re-issued on 1 December 2003, the album went platinum.
After a short break following their first tour, the girls began working on their third album, Chemistry. The first single released from this album was “Long Hot Summer” in August 2005 and charted at No7.
September 2006 saw the release of a compilation album, The Sound Of Girls Aloud. It debuted at No1 in the UK album chart and after 8 weeks, became the groups biggest selling album to date. To date, the album has sold 1.2 million copies across Europe.
