Neil Diamond Profile
Name: Neil Diamond
In 1966 Neil signed with Bang Records and released “Solitary Man”, his first hit on the music charts. He followed this with “Kentucky Woman” and “Cherry, Cherry”.
He left Bang Records and signed a deal with MCA Records in the late 1960s and moved to Los Angeles, producing such songs as “Cracklin’ Rosie”, “Sweet Caroline” and “Song Sung Blue”.
In 1980, Neil starred in a remake of the Al Jolson classic The Jazz Singer, opposite Sir Laurence Olivier. Even though the movie was not a blockbuster hit, the soundtrack was a hugely successful album, spawning the Top 10 singles “Love On The Rocks”, “Hello Again”, and “America”. For his role in the film he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
